Cop Indicted For Shoving Passenger On Bus


A Department of Public Safety trooper has been indicted on two charges that he mistreated a passenger on a Capital Metro bus last October.

Trooper Donald J. MacFarlane, 54, is charged with official oppression and assault by contact.

On Oct. 3, 2010, a dozen University of Texas students were on board a Cap Metro bus and returning to campus after a Saturday night at the bars.

Around 3 a.m., More.. their bus stopped at the corner of 15th Street and Trinity; Trooper Don MacFarlane approached it.According to the Travis County indictment, MacFarlane grabbed and pushed one of the passengers.

MacFarlane lost his patrol assignment after video surfaced in which he appears to be losing his temper.

Two years ago he was also indicted for disorderly conduct when he flashed his badge and his gun during a road rage incident while he was driving his own car.

DPS says they have begun the termination process for the 11-year veteran trooper. MacFarlane has been with DPS since 2000.

MacFarlane has been on paid administrative leave since the October incident
